Maintenance Technician

Job Description

STS Packaging, 1201 Westinghouse Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28273 is hiring Maintenance Technicians to support day and night shifts for our plant. The technician will maintain equipment, machinery and building in good working order and repair as necessary, ensuring compliance with all safety rules, regulations, and procedures.

• Utilize appropriate tools to perform all necessary job functions.
• Perform work order repairs as needed and preventative maintenance as scheduled on all machinery and equipment including Weber SOS Bag Machines, KBA Flexotecnica C.I. Presses, Conveyor System, Fork Lifts, and Auxiliary Equipment such as Chillers, Air Compressors, Bailer, etc.
• Complete all assigned work orders in a timely manner.
• Excellent understanding of pneumatics, electrical controls and hydraulics with ability to diagnose and correct problems.
• Application of strong mechanical and electrical knowledge such as timing gears, rebuilding pumps/motors, reading schematics, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify root cause and correction actions.
• Maintain maintenance parts inventory and plant sanitation standards: pull and turn in tags when parts are removed; record correct parts used on all work orders; restock parts in appropriate location per Infor System.
• Breakdown and set up product on machinery to meet quality, machine, and housekeeping standards.
• Perform all facility shutdown and startup procedures correctly and completely.
• Operate all PIT equipment per OSHA specifications, including daily inspections and battery changes.
• Perform all housekeeping functions required for daily operations, from shift tasks to plant sanitation audits.
• Work overtime as business demands, including monthly training classes mandated by OSHA and plant sanitation certifications.
• Perform any and all job assignments, including special projects, as directed by management.

• Compliance with all facility rules and regulations.
• Report unsafe practices and conditions to supervisor.
• Maintain floor safety discipline by intervening with employees who violate safety rules.
• Report employees who persist in safety violations to management.
• Wear required PPE properly and report defective PPE.
• Report all near misses, accidents, injuries, including muscular–skeletal symptoms or disorders.

• Follow safety, GMP, PPE guidelines.
• Ability to work 8‑hour shifts, including weekends and overtime.
• Strong mechanical knowledge.
• Attention to detail and quality conscious.
• Team‑oriented mindset.
• Computer proficient.
• Excellent math and reading/writing abilities.
• Desire to accept additional responsibility and learn new tasks.

• Knowledge of paper packaging a plus, but not required.

• Stand 100 % of the shift.
• Walk 60 % of the shift.
• Twist and/or use upper body 60 % of the shift.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lb or more frequently, as required by job duties.
• Use hands to finger, feel and reach, handle, with hands and arms during the entire shift.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
• Talk and hear regularly.
• Vision: close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
