PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Location:
Charlotte, NC. Pay: $82k – $87k salary. Position Type:
Immediate, full-time permanent position.
Our team at The Recruiting Pros is conducting a search for a Process Development Engineer for a high‑tech manufacturer whose technologies and services are used from design through production in industries including healthcare, automotive, aerospace and durable goods. In this role you will be responsible for defining and designing new processes as well as improving efficiency and quality of existing processes.
You will leverage Six Sigma training to integrate technical knowledge with operations management in this Lean manufacturing environment. Engineering experience in chemicals, food and/or pharmaceuticals is a BIG PLUS! This position involves travel about 10% of the time.
- Maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of all production related manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Observe and improve current procedures and equipment to recommend improvements and/or modifications to management.
- Collaborate with operations and materials development teams regarding manufacturing processes.
- Design processes for mixing and packaging liquid / solid chemicals.
- Design new equipment specifications for chemical manufacturing equipment and design plant layout.
- Assist with modifications and installation of laboratory equipment.
- Communicate with various levels of internal and external customers with professionalism and clarity.
- Evaluate quotes and interface with contractors in coordinating equipment selections.
- Institute quality metrics to monitor manufacturing processes.
- Build a maintenance program to maintain, repair and optimise production equipment efficiently.
- Train personnel in equipment function and proper use.
- Monitor and support operations to ensure environmental health and safety regulations are met in a cost‑effective manner.
- Exercise strategic thinking and problem solving.
- B.S. degree in industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering (required).
- 3 to 5 years experience in continuous flow manufacturing of liquid or powder materials.
- Six Sigma Certification preferred.
- Exposure to compatible manufacturing environment (such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, foods).
- Capacity to balance multiple priorities and processes regarding schedules, personnel, materials and product quality measures.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Lean manufacturing, automation and quality management systems.
- Well‑organized, self‑disciplined / motivated.
- Strategic planning/thinking skills coupled with analytical and execution skills; logical and organised.
- Proficient in MS Office:
PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
