The department serves a population exceeding one million residents and serves the City of Charlotte, six towns, and the unincorporated areas of the county covering 523 square miles. In addition, the department manages over 21,000 acres and 230+ parks, nature preserves, greenways and facilities. POSITION SUMMARY

Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is excited to welcome a creative and innovative Sr Recreation Facility Manager to the team! This position will oversee daily operations and recreation activities at various recreation centers and satellite sites throughout Mecklenburg County. Our recreation services include but are not limited to summer camps, school day out programs, after school programs, and community events. Additionally, the selected candidate will manage our Meck Rec and Roll vehicle, the department’s mobile recreation program.

The incumbent will also provide leadership to recreation staff and oversee their training and recreation program implementation. They will also participate in fiscal management and budget planning for recreation sites under their supervision. The selected candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external partners to enable us to continue serving our community well. The preferred candidate will possess strong leadership competencies and be well-versed in leading diverse teams.

This position will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed based upon business needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of recreational supervisory experience
  • Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification
  • Strong community engagement experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage program and customer service staff, programs and maintenance
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies, neighborhood groups and user groups for developing an effective recreation plan for the community
