Department Detail – The Facilities Department is a multi-discipline logistics and building services group. This department provides Landscape Services, Janitorial Services, Building Maintenance Services, and Special Event Services. Its goal is to provide a healthy and safe environment for staff, guests, and for the work of the ministry. The Facilities Department supports and empowers others to accomplish BGEA’s core mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ… Always Good News.

Job Summary – The Maintenance Repair Technician is responsible to perform a wide variety of general building maintenance services to maintain a Class A building environment. Services include maintaining the physical appearance and condition of the facility including painting, drywall repairs, suspended ceilings, partition furniture, carpet cleaning and replacement, wall and seasonal decor, plumbing systems and minor electrical repairs to support a safe and efficient work environment.

Ministry Requirements

• Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
• Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
• Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
• Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
• Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform basic building maintenance services including but not limited to lighting repairs, material handling and delivery, minor plumbing repair, general appliance and mechanical repairs and adjustments: floor care and interior and exterior painting
• Reconfiguration of modular office and case goods furniture
• Basic maintenance and cleaning of BGEA fleet vehicles
• Assisting with various grounds keeping duties including leaf, limb and debris removal, general lawn equipment maintenance and repair
• Escorting various vendors throughout the facility

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance and repairs
• Cleaning and adjusting doors, windows, and various building components
• Minor repairs to ceilings – suspended ceilings and drywall
• Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Skills and Knowledge

• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Basic math skills
• Must have a valid NC/SC driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to operate power tools and machines properly and safely, including but not limited to: company vehicles, trucks, tractors, forklifts, material carts, pressure washers, janitorial tools, hand tools, security system; two-way radios; telephone; calculator; copy machine; fax machine
• Ability to use a computerized work order system to receive and close work assignments

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to get to all areas of the Charlotte facilities
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
• Flexibility to do a variety of duties simultaneously

• Work indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather
• Potentially hazardous materials and/or conditions
• Must be willing to work overtime (early or late), if necessary
