LHH is currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected, nationally recognized law firm! The firm is seeking an experienced IP Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys within a busy Intellectual Property Litigation practice. This role handles federal litigation case management, preparation and filing of legal documents, and full‑cycle patent prosecution work including U.S. and international filings. This is a full-time, onsite role in the Charlotte office.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare deposition summaries and initial drafts of pleadings
- Draft, proofread, manage, and file internal and external correspondence, memos, forms, and contracts
- Prepare and file IDS documents, U.S. patent applications, and responses to Office Actions
- Obtain, track, and index litigation documents and create document chronologies (occasional e‑discovery)
- Schedule appointments with expert witnesses and prepare related correspondence
- Coordinate appointments, calendars, and contact lists
- Conduct legal research, jury verdict research, and expert witness research using applicable tools
- Prepare and mark exhibits for depositions and trials
- Use litigation support software to assist with arbitration/trial exhibits and potential testimony
- Attend arbitration or trial as needed
- Review and manage jury questionnaires and jury lists
- Monitor and manage attorney dockets to ensure all deadlines are met
- Coordinate with U.S. and international agents for patent filings and updates
- Communicate with the USPTO to resolve prosecution issues
- Perform post‑allowance diligence, pay issue fees, and close files
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Federal IP litigation and patent prosecution
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Experience using PACER and Federal Court ECF is required
- Thorough understanding of U.S. patent prosecution processes
- Experience preparing and filing PCT applications
- Strong understanding of litigation terminology, processes, and technology
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
