A respected law firm based in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Litigation Associate with 1-5 years of experience to join its growing insurance defense team. Duties:

  • Evaluate new case files and devise strategic action plans and litigation budgets
  • Identify necessary pleadings and coordinate tasks with paralegals
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, including document production
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and discovery-related proceedings
  • Report developments and updates to clients and team members regularly
  • Negotiate settlements, obtain client authority, and prepare for trial when needed
  • Collaborate effectively with legal support staff for seamless case management

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina
  • 1-5 years of litigation experience (insurance defense experience preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with clients and teams
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in managing case timelines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Bar Admission in North Carolina (Required)

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools
  • Familiarity with case management systems and litigation workflows
  • Strong writing and negotiation skills
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
