Overview
Smith Debnam () is seeking candidates for a full-time litigation associate position to assist in the representation of Creditors' Rights in consumer matters. This position requires being regularly present in our Charlotte NC office, except when travelling to court appearances across the state (estimated court travel requirement of 20% to 40%).
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include assisting in the representation of Creditors' Rights in consumer matters, handling hearings, trials and other matters in various jurisdictions throughout SC (and NC as licensing allows), negotiating effective settlements and case resolution on behalf of clients, and managing staff in support of the practice with an understanding of the business aspects of managing an efficient law practice.
QualificationsThe following are prerequisites for this position:
- Minimum of one year’s experience in litigation in private practice
- Handle substantial case volume with minimal supervision
- Handle hearings, trials and other matters in various jurisdictions throughout SC (and NC as licensing allows)
- Manage staff effectively in support of practice with an understanding of the business aspects of managing an efficient law practice
- Negotiate effective settlements and case resolution on behalf of clients
- Live/work out of Charlotte area in NC
Ideal candidate’s experience will include:
- Dual licensed in SC and NC
- Three years’ practice experience representing creditors in state court
- Preference for in-office work environment in a collegial culture
