A well-established law firm is seeking a Senior Commercial Real Estate Attorney to support and lead complex real estate transactions. This role is designed for a seasoned practitioner with deep experience managing commercial real estate matters from contract drafting through negotiation and closing. The ideal candidate will bring strategic insight, strong client management skills, and the ability to independently run transactions while collaborating with internal teams on high-value deals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage sophisticated commercial real estate transactions from inception through closing
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate agreements, including:
  • Purchase and sale agreements
  • Letters of intent
  • Lease agreements (office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use)
  • Development agreements
  • Easements, covenants, and restrictive agreements
  • Advise clients on transactional structure, risk allocation, and deal strategy
  • Conduct and oversee due diligence, including title, survey, zoning, and environmental review
  • Coordinate closings and manage all related documentation and post-closing matters
  • Work directly with developers, investors, lenders, landlords, and tenants
  • Collaborate with internal teams on related corporate, finance, and land use issues
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and staff as appropriate
  • Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Minimum of 10 years of commercial real estate experience
  • Extensive experience handling contracts through negotiation and closing
  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina or eligibility for admission
  • Demonstrated ability to manage transactions independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Experience working with complex and high-value transactions preferred
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with development projects, acquisitions and dispositions, and long-term leasing
  • Familiarity with financing and lender-side or borrower-side transactions
  • Prior experience in a law firm or sophisticated in-house legal environment
  • History of client origination or participation in business development initiatives
