Senior Systems Architect

Job Description

Serve as the infrastructure and systems architect for clinic mergers and acquisitions (up to 180 clinic integrations).

Evaluate existing clinic environments and determine:

• Server requirements
• Application infrastructure needs
• Storage and data footprint
• Virtualization and OS dependencies

Architect solutions to transition existing systems into the Novant environment.

Lead technical discovery and architecture discussions related to M&A and clinic expansion efforts.

Define and document server builds, system builds, and infrastructure standards.

Translate complex infrastructure and application dependencies into clear explanations for leadership.

Partner with stakeholders (including Brian) to explain application behavior, system dependencies, and data/storage requirements.

Ensure infrastructure designs support scalability, performance, and operational stability.

Act as a senior technical authority during planning, design, and execution phases.

• Extensive experience in OS and systems architecture, not just administration
• Deep expertise in:
  • VMware (architecture, sizing, and design)
  • Windows Server OS
  • Server and system build standards
• Proven experience designing and integrating infrastructure in M&A or large‑scale expansion environments
• Strong understanding of how applications interact with:
  • Servers
  • Storage
  • Virtualization platforms
• Ability to independently enter an environment, learn it quickly, and contribute without hand‑holding
• Strong communication skills — able to explain technical architecture clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Experience operating in complex, regulated, or healthcare environments preferred
