TEGNA’s broadcast operations hub in Charlotte, NC seeks a Broadcast Hub Operator to join our team. This position is part of a team responsible for the live operation, monitoring, and support of multiple stations 24‑by‑7 in a single centralized environment. The role ensures on‑air integrity of multiple network programming feeds and provides immediate response to emergency situations that may affect on‑air programming.
The ideal candidate is a self‑starter capable of working independently or as part of a team. Must be willing to work onsite at our facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Maintain and manipulate on‑air playlists, execute program/commercial/marketing changes, support live‑event and off‑air workflows, send logs for reconciliation, and troubleshoot channel playout issues.
- Responsible for the ingest and quality control of broadcast materials into all automation systems.
- Manage commercial integration, including rolling commercial breaks, during taped and live programming.
- Monitor and maintain the continuity and availability for multiple channel streams.
- Ensure continuity of programming by confirming that every piece of material is accounted for and ready for on‑air playout.
- Act as first line responder for internal clients.
- Vigilantly protect our air by simulating the viewer experience and constantly checking for proper audio, video, captioning, and picture quality.
- With the guidance of Technical Managers and supervisors, work as a team to promptly recover from any on‑air discrepancies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- BA/BS in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of television production, broadcast operations, and/or news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements.
- Proficient in Excel and the entire Microsoft O365 suite of tools.
- Knowledge of and ability to use electronic equipment and computer hardware and software related to television broadcast operations, including video and audio routing equipment, file servers, remote transmitter monitoring equipment, and multi‑channel automation systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot, take immediate action, and resolve broadcast issues.

- Must be willing and available to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays, in order to meet the needs of a 24x7 operation.
- 1‑3 years of experience in a master control or production control room television environment.
- Proven passion for media, television, and technology.
