The Hartford’s Enterprise Billing team is seeking a highly motivated Scrum Master who is responsible for leading teams to successfully drive the transformation of our application landscape for Billing applications.

The Enterprise Billing development team is passionate for technology and strives to build well architected and innovative solutions for all lines of business across The Hartford. You will be actively involved with removing impediments and fostering an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous delivery and relentless focus towards people, process, and technology improvements. Our enterprise work model, which reflects a mix of in-office, hybrid and fully remote roles, helps us attract, retain and develop the talent we need to achieve the company’s strategic goals. This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement.

• Act as a Scrum Master for multiple teams on Billing value stream.
• Ensures Scrum Team adheres to Agile principles and best practices.
• Enables and helps those outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are helpful and which aren’t. Helps everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team.
• Understands product planning in an inspect and adapt environment and ensures the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value.
• Provides information regarding team health: people, process, progress and overall satisfaction to Technology and Business Leaders.
• Coaches the team members to practice effective Agile.
• Removes impediments for the team and escalate appropriately.
• Insulates Scrum Team from distractions or disruption.
• Coaches the Product Owner, Development Team, Technology and Business Leaders on Agile values, principles, and best practices.
• Partners with the Product Owner, IT Delivery Lead and Business leadership to form execution delivery plans and manage progress.
• Assesses the Maturity of the team and organization and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
• Identifies and resolves gaps in skills, processes, and resources.
• Builds a trust and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving.
• Provides all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.

• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in IT development as a Scrum Master.
• First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I).
• Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
• Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
• Dynamic and self-starting individual able to work independently or as part of a team with minimal guidance and direction.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and assign work to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of an organization.
• Commitment to continuous learning and mentoring.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present confidently before a large audience.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of other Agile approaches (XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD) is a plus.
• Knowledge/experience with Agile techniques (User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing,…
