Blockchain Protocol Engineer; Specialty Software Engineer - Contingent

Our client, a leading organization in the financial technology sector, is seeking a Blockchain Protocol Engineer (Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent) to join their innovative team. As a Blockchain Protocol Engineer (Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent), you will be part of the Blockchain Development Department supporting the Wealth & Investment Management initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for cutting-edge blockchain infrastructure, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Blockchain Protocol Engineer (Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent)

Location: Charlotte, NC

Pay Range:

• Build and maintain core blockchain modules in Go using the Cosmos SDK, including sophisticated token-factory modules for native asset issuance.
• Design and implement custom logic within the ABCI++ interface to enable advanced features and optimizations.
• Configure, launch, and maintain blockchain networks, including genesis configuration, validator setup, and consensus parameter tuning.
• Implement and manage cross-chain functionality using the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.
• Write comprehensive tests to ensure security, correctness, and performance of the core protocol, and participate in architectural discussions and code reviews.

• 5+ years of experience in Specialty Software Engineering or equivalent, with a focus on blockchain or distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience building Cosmos SDK modules in Go and working at the blockchain protocol level.
• Strong understanding of consensus mechanisms, validator setup, and network configuration.
• Experience with cross-chain communication protocols such as IBC and security-focused engineering practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a regulated, enterprise environment.
