• Develop complex data pipelines and implement data engineering design principles for iterative data pipeline development to drive scale and efficiency. Proficient in model development environments and coding best practices to enable model deployment.
• Integrate and optimize existing data and model pipelines in a production environment. Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors, document assumptions, and fill data gaps. Apply knowledge of experimental methodologies, statistics, optimization, probability theory, and machine learning concepts to create self‑running AI systems to automate predictive models. Proficient in SDLC processes and related tools and technologies.
• Partner with data science teams to review model‑ready dataset documentation/feature documentation. Develop data model design and documentation, review for completeness with data science teams.
• Partner with data science teams to understand data requirements, perform data discovery for model development. Perform detailed analysis of raw data sources for data quality, apply business context, and model development needs. Drive efficiency through use of data discovery tools.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processes and develop hypotheses. Bring structure to requests and translate requirements into an analytic approach. Participate in and influence ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.
• Write model monitoring scripts as needed. Diagnose root causes based on model monitoring alerts and triage issues. Coordinate and plan response to model monitoring alerts and resolve issues.
• Serve as a machine learning engineering subject matter expert on cross‑functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Vanguard analytics community.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

• Gen AI experience – fine tuning SLMs, application evaluation.
• Experience with AWS suite of tools such as Bedrock, Agent Core.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum 8+ years of related work experience.
