Senior Platform Engineer
We’re hiring this company’s first Platform Engineer to establish platform engineering as a core function at this company. This is a foundational role with real ownership: you’ll design, build, and run the infrastructure, tooling, and standards that power all engineering teams. You’ll work directly with the VP of Engineering, product, and data leaders to define platform direction and deliver reusable infrastructure, access controls, and observability that enable true self-service.
Their Dev Ops philosophy is service-driven we build systems that let engineers ship faster without depending on a central ops team.
The company is located in Charlotte, NC and will require 3 days onsite Tuesday-Thursday.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Enable self-service:
Build reusable Terraform modules, CI/CD workflows, and deployment patterns engineers can own end-to-end. - Own core infrastructure:
Operate and scale our AWS environment with a focus on reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. - Security and compliance:
Implement least-privilege access and compliance-by-default infrastructure to support SOC 2 readiness; ISO 27001 experience is relevant. - Access and cost management:
Manage AWS IAM and database access, and partner with leadership to track and optimize cloud spend. - Observability and analytics:
Standardize monitoring and product analytics using Datadog and Post Hog so teams get actionable visibility by default.
- Languages & frameworks: Python (Flask, FastAPI, data pipelines), React
- Cloud & infrastructure: AWS (ECS, Fargate, EC2, RDS, Elasti Cache, VPC, Route
53, S3, Step Functions), Docker, Terraform - CI/CD & quality: Git Hub Actions, Sonar
- Databases: Postgres, SQL Server
- Monitoring & analytics: Datadog, Post Hog
Skills & Experience:
- 6 years in platform, Dev Ops, or infrastructure engineering
- Deep hands‑on experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and ECS or Fargate
- Working knowledge of Python services and React‑based applications
- Strong background in CI/CD, observability, and code quality tooling
- Experience supporting or preparing for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits
Skills & Experience:
- Managing AWS IAM at scale
- Database administration experience, especially Postgres
- Background in application or infrastructure security
