Temporary Senior Associate, Open Shift Engineer
Overview
KPMG is seeking a Temporary Senior Engineer, Technology Operations Center for a twelve-month assignment to join our Digital Nexus technology organization. This role focuses on expert-level Open Shift platform support and collaboration with application teams to optimize Open Shift deployments.
Responsibilities- Provide expert-level technical support to application teams using the Open Shift platform; troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Open Shift virtualization or other virtualization platforms.
- Work with application teams to understand requirements and provide guidance to optimize Open Shift deployments.
- Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of industry directions and trends.
- Collaborate with operations and middleware teams to ensure timely issue resolution; participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and best practices; contribute to automation tool/script development to improve support processes.
- Mentor and train other support engineers to improve their technical skills and knowledge of Open Shift.
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold a respectful work environment.
- Minimum three years of recent experience managing medium- to large-scale container platforms (including rollout, automation, and scaling) and providing technical support for enterprise applications.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Practical experience with Open Shift (installation, configuration, troubleshooting) and solid understanding of containerization and Kubernetes; experience engineering CI/CD processes in an enterprise environment (e.g., Git Hub Actions or Jenkins).
- Scripting experience with Shell, Bash, Python, or Power Shell; knowledge of SDLC lifecycle; virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) is a plus; coding experience with software development languages is preferred.
- Strong verbal/written communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to collaborate with clients, IT management, and team members.
- Detail-oriented with excellent technical writing, time management, and ability to mentor less experienced team members.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
