Principal Software Engineer – Ally.ai Platform

Join Ally as a Principal Software Engineer to shape the future of financial services through cutting‑edge AI innovation. You will play a pivotal role in building and scaling the core services that power our enterprise‑wide generative AI capabilities.

Ally designates roles as (1) fully on‑site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. As a Principal Software Engineer on the Ally.ai platform, you will lead the design and development of cloud‑native, scalable services that form the backbone of Ally.ai. You will integrate advanced generative AI models into secure, compliant, and high‑performance systems tailored for financial services, and collaborate with data science, security, and enterprise architecture teams to deliver reliable, innovative solutions aligned with Ally’s technology strategy.

• Lead the design and development of cloud‑native, scalable services that form the backbone of Ally.ai.
• Integrate advanced generative AI models into secure, compliant, and high‑performance systems tailored for financial services.
• Collaborate across disciplines from data science and security to enterprise architecture to deliver solutions that are innovative, reliable, and aligned with Ally’s technology strategy.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and shared ownership.

• 5+ years of experience in advanced Python for backend development.
• 1+ year designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices; familiarity with API security, authentication (OAuth2, JWT), and performance optimization.
• 1+ year experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation, Azure ARM templates) in cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Demonstrated experience with automated testing for APIs and infrastructure.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native and serverless services (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with code management and CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field preferred.

• Familiarity with AI / Generative AI technologies.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as Lang Chain or Lang Graph.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools (Cloud Watch, Datadog, Dynatrace, Prometheus).
• Ability to mentor engineers, lead technical discussions, and influence architectural decisions.
• AI first mindset: desire to infuse AI into all stages of the engineering process.

Base Pay Range
: $110,000 – $180,000 USD. Position within this range is determined by role, responsibilities, experience, education, and qualifications.

Incentive Compensation
:
Eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
