Position: IT Security Specialist V (Contract – Hybrid – Charlotte, NC)

, based hybrid in Charlotte, North Carolina (requiring 3 days a week on‑site), is crucial for supporting critical data management applications within IT Operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a customer‑focused mindset, all of which are essential for successful alignment within the organization. This role is only open to W2 candidates and cannot accommodate C2C, C2H, or third‑party engagements.

the Job? Securing and Maintaining Data Management Applications

As an IT Security Specialist V, you’ll play a critical role in the operations and maintenance of the systems that manage and archive the organization’s data. Your responsibilities will blend hands‑on technical support with strategic process adherence, ensuring data integrity and system availability in a 24/7 environment.

  • Manage and Maintain Data Management Applications: You will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of a variety of Data Management applications, including system oversight for Application Distribution (ensuring software is deployed securely and efficiently) and Application Runtime Data Archiving (safeguarding and managing data at the end of its active lifecycle). Your expertise will ensure these systems are stable, secure, and performant.
  • Serve as a Level 2/3 Response Team Member: You will be a vital member of a Level 2/3 response team in a demanding 24×7 support environment. This requires you to respond to complex technical incidents, perform in‑depth troubleshooting, and provide expert guidance to resolve issues that cannot be handled by a lower tier of support. Your quick thinking and technical skills will be crucial for minimizing downtime.
  • Participate in Operational Support Shift Rotation: You will be an integral part of the team by participating in an operational support shift rotation, which may include weekend coverage. This commitment ensures that critical systems are continuously monitored and supported, and that any incidents that arise outside of standard business hours are addressed promptly and effectively to maintain service availability.
  • Coordinate Incident Resolution with Infrastructure Teams: You will meticulously coordinate incident resolution with various stakeholders, including service users and other infrastructure teams (e.g., networking, systems, storage). This involves leveraging enterprise Incident Management systems to track issues, communicate status updates, and collaborate with diverse teams to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently, ensuring a unified approach to incident response.
  • Ensure Use of Standardized Procedures for Changes: You will be instrumental in ensuring that standardized methods and procedures are used for the efficient and prompt handling of all changes. This includes adhering to change control policies, documenting all modifications to systems and applications, and verifying that all changes are properly reviewed and approved before implementation. Your diligence in this area is critical for maintaining system stability and preventing unintended outages.

To excel as an IT Security Specialist V, you’ll need extensive experience in Linux administration, proficiency in scripting and automation, and a strong understanding of web application support and advanced data management.
