Senior Talent Acquisition Recruiter — Charlotte, NC — 6 month Contract to Hire

Position Summary

This is a senior, hands-on Talent Acquisition role supporting power and industrial construction engineering projects. The role serves as the primary onsite engineering recruiter for the Charlotte Engineering office and partners closely with Engineering leadership to deliver full-cycle recruiting support. This position requires recent experience recruiting engineers supporting power engineering projects within power generation, EPC, or industrial construction environments. The role is an individual contributor position with no direct reports, operating independently while remaining aligned with the broader Engineering TA team.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Recruit engineers supporting power generation, industrial construction, and EPC-style projects, including project-based and schedule-driven hiring needs.
  • Source, screen, and perform preliminary interviews on potential engineering candidates for project-specific needs.
  • Partner closely with Engineering hiring managers to understand technical requirements and workforce demands.
  • Coordinate site interviews with appropriate hiring manager to select qualified candidates for project specific requirements and make contingent employment offers based on federal/state law.
  • Manage assigned employment requisitions to include but not limited to reviewing, editing, and final approval of completed requisition.
  • Track and report recruiting activity and staffing metrics using ATS and Microsoft tools.
  • Support staffing plans tied to engineering project schedules.
  • Assist in building and managing Employment Staffing Plans by entering information related to employment and hiring requirements.
  • Builds and updates job descriptions based on project and scope of work.
  • Coordinate and conduct re-deployment initiatives (proactive communication with employees prior to anticipated end date).
  • Conducts operational and administrative portions of the hire process (background checks, drug screen, health screen, I-9 compliance, E-Verify compliance, employment paperwork, site specific requirements).
  • Serve as a point of contact for portion of the employment process for internal partners at the job site (Lead for processing or portion of recruiting efforts).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience, with a recent focus on engineering recruiting.
  • Engineering recruiting experience supporting power engineering projects (EPC, utility, or industrial construction environments) is required.
  • Experience recruiting in project-based engineering environments where schedules, site needs, and technical depth are critical.
  • Ability to work independently as the sole onsite engineering recruiter.
  • Ability to identify and engage candidates through multiple sourcing methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn ATS systems quickly.
  • Technical skill with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to quickly learn Tracking Management Systems.
  • Excellent people skills including collaboration, communication, presentation, and team-building skills.
  • Strong customer service mindset and attention to detail.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to power generation or utility customers.
  • Experience recruiting in refining, petrochemical, or renewables environments.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements.
Not a Fit
  • Candidates whose engineering recruiting experience is primarily limited to manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or product-based environments without power or industrial construction exposure.
  • Candidates with only commercial recruiting experience.
  • Candidates with only offshore recruiting experience.
  • Craft-only recruiters without engineering recruiting experience.
  • Candidates whose recent work history reflects limited tenure across multiple roles without clear contract or project completion context.
