Position SummaryThe Compensation Analyst supports the County’s Human Resources Program by administering and delivering compensation initiatives designed to attract and retain top talent.
Essential Functions- Strategic Partner: Build strong relationships with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, and Total Rewards to ensure consistency in compensation practices.
- Business Literacy & Analysis: Assess business priorities, analyze compensation data and trends, and provide actionable recommendations to align pay strategies with goals and market dynamics.
- Leverage compensation analysis to influence base pay structures and salary recommendations; perform quantitative analyses for key projects.
- Act as the primary contact for day‑to‑day compensation matters and support business leaders in understanding compensation practices.
- Execution: Support the annual compensation planning cycle (merit, COLA), generate and enhance monthly compensation reports, and drive automation of manual processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, FLSA, DOL and EEOC regulations, and risk‑management standards.
- Communicate complex compensation concepts clearly to senior leaders and non‑compensation audiences.
- Document standard operating procedures and maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
- Data Management & Analysis: Manage complex data models, conduct market research, prepare special studies, and recommend compensation adjustments based on survey results.
- Provide guidance on reorganization, restructuring, and compensation parity/equity reviews.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in compensation or related HR field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline.
- Relevant education and experience combination accepted.
- Working toward CCP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certification.
- Experience with People Soft software.
- Expert knowledge of Excel.
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- General statistical principles and human resource program management principles.
- Basic budgeting principles.
- Develop and assess human resources programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and interpret HR policies.
- Apply applicable laws and regulations.
- Use computer and related software applications.
- Conduct research and prepare related reports; collect and analyze data.
- Administer HR programs and develop collateral materials.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Decision making based on data analysis and problem identification.
- Clear communication of information and ideas to audiences.
- Build strategic work relationships and collaborate effectively with others.
- Adapt interpersonal styles to gain acceptance of ideas or plans.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
