PositionFront Desk Coordinator
About the RoleThis is an exciting time to join East Carolina Pain Consultants (ECPC) at Integrative Pain & Spine Institute. We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Front Desk Coordinator to support our growing division. Our practice is a division of East Carolina Anesthesia Associates (ECAA). We are expanding and seeking team members to grow with us.
Responsibilities- Answer all incoming calls professionally with a courteous and friendly attitude; assess caller needs and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Page clinic personnel as appropriate, and obtain and communicate messages accurately and in a timely manner.
- Check patients in and out.
- Verify insurance and patient financial responsibility.
- Obtain authorizations for procedures as needed.
- Schedule new patients and return appointments in the computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines. Cancel/reschedule appointments as needed and notify appropriate clinic personnel.
- Utilize the eClinical
Works EMR system to obtain or document patient information. - Obtain and enter all authorization and correspondence related to referrals in patient charts and computers.
- Schedule outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request.
- Collect co-pays or other payments at time of visit.
- Provide patients with accurate and legible appointment cards and document no-shows in the patient’s chart.
- Reschedule missed appointments and conduct follow-up with patients as needed.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality regulations and HIPAA requirements.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested by the supervisor.
- Maintain composure when dealing with difficult situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma. - Experience:
Two years of medical front desk receptionist experience required. - Knowledge:
Medical terminology and insurance verification; knowledge of prior authorizations and referral management preferred. - Proficiency:
Proficient with EMR.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, physicians, and external customers.
- Strong multi-tasking and ability to move between projects.
- Problem-solving with timely action; strong time management, follow-through, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Work performed in an office environment with frequent contact with patients, physicians, and medical office staff.
- Work may be stressful at times; interaction is frequent and often disruptive.
- Requires long periods of standing and walking; fast-paced activity.
- Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination and dexterity to operate medical and office equipment.
- Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate reports.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with no assistance.
