Position: Direct Care Staff - Residential Facility (Immediate Start)

Qualifications

A person holding at least a GED or high school diploma to provide MH services. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan will be developed and supervision will be provided by a qualified professional or associate professional with the population served.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate relevant consumer information to supervisors, Case Coordinator, and/or parents
  • Provide privacy and confidentiality of all consumer records
  • Assure consumers are free from abuse, mistreatment, and or neglect and report any incidents of such to supervisor
  • Treat each consumer with dignity and respect
  • Complement all documentation related to Treatment Plans
  • Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of philosophy and purpose
  • Develop familiarity with the Treatment Plan of each consumer served
  • Implement goals and recommendations and follow appropriate documentation procedures
  • Provide a positive atmosphere which facilitates growth and learning
  • Make decisions based on training and policies when unsupervised
  • Perform duties as requested by Supervisor
  • Execute all shift documentation
  • Transport consumer to all scheduled and unscheduled appointments
  • Interaction skills to group
  • Attend staff and training meetings during time off, schedule and transport clients to all appointments, court hearings, weekend visit resources as well as be responsible for them if one is suspended from school or becomes ill or has nowhere to go for the weekend visits; essentially your role will be of a parent—whatever is in the best interest of the child
  • Provide privacy and confidentiality of all consumer records; maintain an accurate record-keeping system regarding each client’s file, medication/treatment charts, daily and weekly notes, and other administrative duties, as well as manage the food budget, allowances and trip fund and be able to provide information upon request
  • Keep an inventory of equipment and the household and report damages or concerns immediately to the Executive Director or Administrative Manager
Communication

Gives and receives information constructively and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Listens effectively to co-workers, clients and supervision, and is open to their ideas and opinions.

Filing and record keeping
  • Uses and maintains efficient filing systems for storing and retrieving work unit documents and records; keeps accurate and up-to-date files and records

  • Display fundamental work habits and behavior in the areas of work, organization and planning, flexibility and willingness to help others, ability to work under pressure and stressful conditions, following instructions and standard procedures, attendance and use of company time
  • Effective plans and manages time by assigning priorities to daily and weekly activities
  • Readily accepts difficult work assignments, changes in work schedule/priorities and helps others during
  • Follows instructions and uses established work procedures; does not require excessive supervision/direction
  • Arrives and leaves work at scheduled times; notifies supervisor in advance when going to be absent or late, or needing to leave work early; uses break and lunch time appropriately
  • Promotes teamwork by completing work in ways that support group objectives; informing teammates of work status, problems and concerns in a timely manner; and working with teammates to ensure that all work is covered in the home in a consistent manner
Qualifications
  • 18 years of age
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Physically and mentally fit
Preferred
  • 6 months to a year experience working in a group home or with children
