The District Director of Operations is responsible for driving operational precision and efficiency across a defined geographic district of hospitals. This role focuses on optimizing patient flow, reducing length of stay (LOS), and improving care transitions to enhance both patient outcomes and financial sustainability. The district director will implement standardized best practices, leverage data-driven insights, and collaborate with site leaders and key hospital partners to ensure seamless, high-quality, and cost‑effective hospital operations.
OperationalPrecision and Standardization
- Implement practice-wide operational strategies to enhance patient throughput, capacity management, and resource utilization.
- Execute standardized operational workflows across all hospitals to drive efficiency, reduce variability, and improve care coordination.
- Establish and review real‑time monitoring and predictive analytics to optimize patient flow and discharge planning.
- Ensure accountability among site leaders for optimizing hospital throughput, reducing ED boarding, and expediting inpatient admissions.
- Drive accountability for the implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) methodologies to reduce LOS while maintaining the highest standards of care.
- Hold site leaders accountable for enhancing discharge planning processes to facilitate timely transitions and minimize avoidable delays.
- Ensure and round on IP team participation in hospital-wide interdisciplinary rounds and escalation protocols to support efficient, data‑driven decision‑making.
- Hold site leaders accountable for driving collaboration between hospital teams and post‑acute care providers to ensure seamless patient transitions and continuity of care.
- Ensure site leaders implement hospital‑wide strategies to reduce readmissions and enhance care coordination across inpatient, outpatient, and home settings.
- Hold site leaders responsible for leveraging predictive analytics to identify high‑risk patients and proactively manage discharge planning to prevent avoidable delays and readmissions.
- Ensure site leaders actively partner with case management, nursing, and providers to strengthen care transitions.
- Hold site leaders accountable for driving operational efficiencies that align with financial goals, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost control.
- Ensure site leaders implement workforce optimization strategies that balance staffing efficiency with high‑quality patient care.
- Ensure site leaders and teams uphold compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including CMS and Joint Commission standards.
- Hold site leaders accountable for meeting patient flow and discharge‑related quality measures, including readmission reduction initiatives.
- Ensure site leaders champion a culture of continuous quality improvement, focusing on both operational performance and patient experience.
- Drive lasting relationships with hospital partners.
- Hold site leaders accountable for providing strong leadership to hospital clinical teams and operational managers.
- Ensure site leaders mentor and develop teams to foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and patient‑centered care.
- Ability to lead with empathy and inspire a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows‑based applications.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Demonstrate expertise in leading large teams in a complex matrixed environment.
- Demonstrate expertise in patient flow management, LOS reduction, discharge planning, and transitions of care.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing operational best practices across multiple hospital locations.
- Excellent coaching skills to leverage operational success from leaders.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Clinical degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience or equivalent.
