Base pay range: $79,169.00/yr - $/yr

Summary

Incumbent performs all MRI examinations. These exams are performed with and/or without the use of contrast materials. The purposes of these exams are to achieve diagnostic studies to aid in the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients. This subspecialty requires advanced ARRT certification (MRI).

Duties

  • Major duties include: receive patients, confirm patient identification, obtain patient history, provide patient education, provide reassurance and ensure patient comfort.
  • Review exam requests for appropriateness before performing exams.
  • Use appropriateness criteria, the clinical history provided on the request, patient interview, chart review or contact with the ordering clinician to clarify as needed.
  • Schedule exams in a manner that optimizes all MRI scanner times while maintaining flexibility to allow for emergency cases.
  • Prioritize scheduled patients and accommodate emergency patients who may need immediate attention.
  • Perform a wide variety of MRI and MRA exams, including complex visualization of vessels and organs using 3D technology; confer with radiologists to determine requirements of non‑standard exams.
  • Determine technical factors—positioning, number and thickness of scans—to satisfy MRI scanning requirements.
  • Schedule patients for examinations.
  • Advise radiologists or referring physicians of examination results.
  • Notify them of scans requiring immediate attention.
  • Operate the MRI scanner controls and apply radio‑frequency coils and other associated devices and supplies to acquire diagnostic MRI images.
  • Establish venous access using a sheath‑needle type angio‑catheter employing sterile technique.
  • Apply infection control practices, including knowledge of modes of transmission, levels of precautions, and preventive measures.
  • Report to the Supervisor MIT (MRI)/MRI Safety Officer, who manages workflow, work assignments, breaks and lunches, technical and MRI safety consultation, troubleshooting, and other operational aspects.
  • Execute work assignments such as data collection for performance improvement, equipment QC, exam tracking, audits, and other administrative duties assigned by the Supervisor MIT (MRI)/MRI Safety Officer.
  • Perform work assignments with required accuracy and timeliness and seek guidance and clarification as needed.
  • Experience preference: three or more years MRI experience in a hospital or outpatient setting.
  • Preferred:
    Phillips MRI experience.
  • Work schedule:

    Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
