Schedule Details/Additional Information: Mon-Fri . Hybrid with a max of 2 days remote per week.

Pay Range: $22.90 - $34.35

Major Responsibilities
  • This MA role supports patients undergoing liver transplant evaluation or on the liver transplant waitlist, blending clerical and clinical responsibilities in a hybrid role.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate transplant evaluation teaching with multidisciplinary team; order, schedule, and track lab work; complete documentation workflows (including EPIC in-basket messaging); monitor fax work queues; and maintain patient communication.
  • Focus on virtual patient care, communicating with patients via phone and portal messages and facilitating in-person group teaching classes.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, especially with EPIC and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Provide exceptional customer service as a key contact throughout the transplant journey.
  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies/procedures, maintains competency per specialty when providing patient care.
  • Perform rooming/visit tasks as ordered, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (e.g., depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health).
  • Assist provider with or perform procedures as ordered.
  • Perform lab-related duties: venipuncture, specimen labeling, packing, lab orders/requisitions, results tracking; point-of-care testing (POCT) per standing orders; complete CLIA-waived tests and other diagnostic testing per CLIA standards.
  • Administer medications and vaccines following medication rights.
  • Other duties as assigned (e.g., medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, ordering medications/supplies, appointment scheduling, referrals).
  • Maintain effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
  • Maintain a clean work environment; ensure equipment and supplies are in working order and stocked.
  • May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates; may serve as a role champion or on a committee.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care; understand life-span growth and development and assess data to identify patient needs per department policies.
Minimum

Job Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training relevant to clinical work per DD214 in lieu of a formal Medical Assistant program, or EMT.

Experience

  • Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within Medical Assistant scope after demonstrated competency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
  • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, Windows navigation, and use of electronic medical records systems.
  • Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.
Certification / License
  • Current CPR/BLS certification as required by department; certification or registration as CMA or RMA by AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRMA, NCMA, CCMA, or other recognized bodies per division requirements.
Divisions Specific Notes
  • IL/WI Divisions: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days if required; CMA/RMA certification per listed organizations;
    Wake Forest and Floyd & Navicent specifics noted in original posting.
