Pay Range: $22.50 - $33.75

Note: This position is sign-on bonus eligible. Based on eligibility.

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
• Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
• Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
• Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
• May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates.
• May serve as a role champion or on a committee.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.

• Greater Charlotte:
  High School Diploma or GED required.
• IL/WI Divisions:
  High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
• Wake Forest:
  High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.
• Floyd & Navicent:
  High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.

• Greater Charlotte:
  Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required. Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment. CMA or RMA by national organizations (AAMA, NHA, NHCWA, NCCT, ARMA, AMT, NAHP, NRMA). Successful completion of system approved program to become a primary trainer for new teammates.
• IL/WI Divisions: BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA) within 45 days if required. CMA or RMA by national organizations (AAMA, CCMA, NHA, AMT, NCMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA).
• Wake Forest: BLS certification required. AAMA/AMT/AAH/NHCWA/NHA/MCMA/NAHP/NRMA certifications. PEARS may be required within 1 year in select areas. Atrium Health competency assessment. • Floyd & Navicent: BLS certification within 45 days. CMA or RMA by national organizations (AAMA, CCMA, NHA, AMT, NCMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA).

• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigating Windows, and using electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

• Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
