Position: Medical Support Assistant (Advanced)
The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (MSA) is a foundational role within the outpatient and Mental Health Clinics, to include the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and Health Care Centers (HCCs).The incumbent serves as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant in either a Specialty Clinic or Mental Health Clinic.

The incumbent will serves as the first point of contact for our veterans. The incumbent's work impacts the administrative aspect of patient care, including access scheduling/ coordinating appointments, answering phone calls and directing patients to the correct point of contact, collecting and updating demographic and insurance information, and patient processing and customer service.

* Initial point of contact for the units, clinics, patient, call centers, care in the community (CITC)

* Scheduling patient appointments

* Tracking, reviewing, and responding to electronic orders, consults, and other elements in the electronic medical record and medical systems

* Practical knowledge of computerized data entry, information processing systems and software related to patient care

* Knowledge of standard procedures, utilizing medical records, and medical terminology
