Novant Health Ballantyne Medical clinic is seeking a Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant. The CMA will coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. Perform and document necessary preliminary exam needs on patient to include height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature. Ensure patient chart is complete. Interview patient to identify current medical needs and relevant patient history.

Assist with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures within scope of practice. Administer medication as ordered by the clinician. Support DME and MRI authorizations.

What You’ll Do
  • Patient Care:
    Perform and document necessary preliminary exam needs on patient to include height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature. Ensure patient chart is complete. Interview patient to identify current medical needs and relevant patient history. Assist with examinations, treatments, special tests and procedures within scope of practice. Administer medication as ordered by the clinician.
  • Immunization Administration:
    Ability to administer immunization, as ordered, using appropriate site. Ability to review immunization record and identify potential risk and side effects of immunization (s) ordered.
  • Teamwork and Communication:
    Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Share and initiate regular and professional communication with co‑workers. Facilitate and/or participate in regular team member meetings. Work within the team to identify areas of improvement and actively participate in the improvement process.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program;
    Medical Assistant curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration. Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, and an education agreement signed. Certification/registry accepted: CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), CCMA (National Health Career Association), RMA (American Medical Technologists, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Center for Competency Testing, National Association for Health Professionals, American Allied Health, American Registry of Medical Assistants).

    Alternative work experience for eligibility to take exams:
    Applicant must be employed as a supervised medical assistant for a minimum of one year (NHA or NHCWA) within the last three years, two years (NCCT, NAHP), three years (ARMA), five years (AMT) of the last seven years (with no more than two years as an instructor in a post‑secondary medical assistant program). Or graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.

    Experience must include both clinical (including medication administration) and administrative duties.
  • Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA; required.

    Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
