Position: Program Coordinator for Basic Needs (Temp)

Overview

* Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker's Compensation provisions.

However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility. Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions or designated as variable hour worker - i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods.

If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.


* Special Notes Regarding Eligibility for the High Deductible Health Plan

  • Temporary hourly workers (eligibility based on FTE, duration of more than 30 days) FTE .75+ (cumulative of all jobs) or measured full-time, offered the high deductible health insurance

Responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, sociology, communications, education, or related field.
  • Minimum of one year full-time experience (or graduate school equivalent).
  • Experience providing services to both traditional and nontraditional college student-aged populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas associated with organization, planning, decision making, problem solving, strategic thinking and effective use of resources.
  • Ability to multitask and manage customer issues, concerns, and complaints with a solution focused approach to addressing a myriad of student concerns.
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by preparing comprehensive reports and summaries incorporating student-focused, data-driven statistics and information.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in public health, higher education/college student personnel, counseling, social work, or related field.
  • Familiarity with college student development and basic needs insecurity associated with the college experience.
  • Knowledge of government regulations pertaining to students, including FERPA, HIPAA, Title IX, Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Demonstrated sensitivity to the concerns and needs of a college student population.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating and building partnerships with community social services and resources.
  • Experience in crisis intervention or conflict resolution, response, and assessment, with the ability to diffuse crisis situations, problem solve, and analyze complex problems.
  • Familiarity working cooperatively with others in a multidisciplinary team environment.
