Position summaryPOSITION SUMMARY: Performs excellent patient care for all CT scan and X-ray exams. Quickly and accurately completes all paperwork, including orders, lab work, and authorization confirmation. Monitors patient safety related to radiation and contrast dose.
Essential duties and responsibilities- Examine orders and verify requests on patients. Address questionable orders with the Radiologist before procedures. Operate CT equipment and injector with proficiency.
- Operate X-ray equipment with proficiency.
- Process paperwork/orders, email order requests, and authorizations. Record medical history on designated forms. Correlate test results and lab data with the exam.
- Perform IVs, administer oral contrast, and perform lab work as needed.
- Monitor supplies/stock room.
- Communicate with radiologists for protocols as needed.
- Communicate with PACS/IT for imaging distribution as necessary.
Education/Licensing/Certification:
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT
- BLS
Experience (years and type):
- 2 years of Radiology experience
Knowledge and skills:
- Perform procedures per CR departmental protocols and standards. Operate CT scanners, X-ray equipment, IV contrast injectors. Computer literate and knowledgeable of CR programs.
- Stay up to date with local and federal regulations applicable to licensure and role.
- Access patient history to review allergies that could affect testing.
- Communicate with Radiologist or referring MD if protocol needs to be obtained or altered.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer.
- Stand/walk for extended periods; lift 50–75 lbs as required by CR.
- Demonstrate positive communication skills.
- Perform basic patient care functions and inform Radiologist or nurse of any change in patient condition.
- Competent with IVs.
Travel Required: 0-25%
