Recovery Court and Hub Peer Support Specialist
Promise Resource Network Inc. is seeking a full‑time Peer Support Specialist based in Charlotte, NC. The position offers a pay range of $19–$21 per hour, with benefits including health, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k), disability and EAP.
About the PositionThe Recovery Court and Hub Peer Support Specialist will provide one‑to‑one mentoring and group support to individuals facing mental health and/or substance use challenges. The role includes outreach, advocacy, recovery planning, education classes, and participation in Recovery Court sessions.
General Responsibilities- Interface with peers, colleagues, service providers, families, and community members in an empathetic, professional manner.
- Facilitate or co‑facilitate group presentations on mental health topics and share personal recovery journeys.
- Establish rapport with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Coordinate peer service activities: create individualized recovery plans, support participants in community and education programs, facilitate scheduled classes, and outreach to potential peers.
- Participate in marketing, curriculum development, outreach, and program development projects.
- Attend trainings, staff meetings, supervision sessions, and peer support activities.
- Demonstrate commitment to the recovery philosophy and act as a role model for self‑empowerment.
- Represent the agency professionally in the community and workplace.
- Conduct hub and community classes; ensure hub coverage throughout the week.
- Assist hub participants daily as needed.
- Complete and maintain court‑related paperwork in a timely manner.
- Identify court needs and coordinate with PRN to meet them.
- Review court‑specific steps with participants and focus on personal goals.
- Report feedback from Recovery Court to the Team Lead and Program Manager.
- Be available at the courthouse for court dates, clinical, and legal staffing.
- Collaborate with Recovery Court staff on referrals for appropriate services.
- Assist the Program Manager in developing and implementing program policies.
- Reach out to individuals referred through Recovery Court to build relationships and explore PRN supports.
- Coordinate with the Bridges case manager to schedule new peer meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Current North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
- Living experience with justice involvement following the sequential intercept model.
- Living experience of recovery from mental health, substance use, domestic violence, incarceration, or other traumas.
- Belief in recovery potential and commitment to peer‑support principles.
- Ability to receive guidance, training, and mentoring.
- Leadership by modeling PRN mission, values, and philosophy.
- Dependability, teamwork, personal responsibility, and honesty.
- Effective communication skills, active listening, validation, and conflict resolution.
- Valid NC driver’s license.
- No pending criminal charges or open case with YFS.
- Proficiency with computer applications (Word, Excel, databases).
