Responsibilities
  • Underwrite loan transactions and complete all required financial and other due diligence to make recommendations for new business-purpose (wholesale) credit requests.
  • Proactively manage an assigned portfolio of credit relationships with an average portfolio size of over $500MM for Truist Wealth Advisory customers (e.g., Medical Practices, Law Firms).
    • Handle loan requests above $10MM, with some requests in excess of $100MM.
    • Structure loan terms, covenants, and pricing; negotiate legal documents.
    • Coordinate with relationship management, cross-functional partners, and Credit Risk Management.
  • Support client needs, participate in client presentations when appropriate, and research/qualify credit prospects.
  • Understand industry-specific client structures and customized credit facility structuring and related risks.
  • Manage end-to-end credit delivery, including due diligence, underwriting, and loan closing processes.
  • Engage with clients and prospects to understand financial profiles and discuss credit opportunities; manage expectations throughout the process.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and trends, identify issues early, and drive remediation as needed.
  • Coordinate credit and loan portfolio administration activities (renewals, modifications, annual credit reviews, covenant compliance, and collateral monitoring).
  • Provide technical assistance and coaching to junior Credit Portfolio Managers; conduct industry/market research for complex portfolios.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently structure loan terms, covenants, and pricing for the wealth portfolio; handle large and complex wholesale loan requests and borrower relationships.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, borrowing bases, appraisals, and other due diligence items; identify risks and propose mitigants or alternative loan structures.
  • Prepare concise credit packages with borrower overview, financial profile, strengths, risks and mitigants, and recommendations for presentation to credit risk management.
  • Negotiate legal documents and participate in the closing process; manage end-to-end credit delivery in partnership with internal/external counsel, loan fulfillment, and loan servicing.
  • Maintain proactive client communication to manage expectations and support the advisor team or client directly when appropriate.
  • Engage with cross-functional partners to ensure timely credit deliveries and portfolio administration including renewals and periodic reviews.
  • Remain informed on industry and regulatory trends and the competitive landscape within wealth and specialty lending sectors.
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or equivalent experience. Minimum of seven (7) years in structured wealth lending or large commercial credit solutions. Strong decision-making, negotiation, and client relationship skills. Proficient in financial analysis and ability to balance business development with risk management. Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Formal bank credit training program completion; experience underwriting and monitoring specialty industries (e.g., law firms, medical practices); strong financial modeling and legal/loan structuring fundamentals.
