About the Firm
The firm is a Charlotte-based lower middle market private equity group that partners with founder-led and family-owned businesses across a wide range of industries. As a generalist investor, the firm targets control investments in companies typically generating $3-$15M of EBITDA. Its investment approach blends disciplined underwriting with hands-on value creation.
The firm is seeking a Private Equity Associate to join the team this summer. The associate will work closely with senior investment professionals and portfolio company leaders, gaining exposure across the full deal lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Investment Evaluation & Execution
- The associate builds financial models and conducts valuation analyses (DCF, LBO, comparable companies, precedent transactions).
- The associate supports screening new opportunities and drafting investment memos.
- The associate performs industry research, competitive analysis, market assessments, and customer diligence.
- The associate assists with deal execution, data room review, diligence coordination, and transaction processes.
- Portfolio Company Support
- The associate analyzes portfolio company performance and monitors key operating metrics.
- The associate supports value‑creation initiatives, evaluates add-on acquisitions, and assists with integration efforts.
- The associate prepares board materials and investor reporting.
- Firm & Market Activities
- The associate contributes to sourcing through market research, networking, and monitoring industry developments.
- The associate updates and maintains internal sector theses, research materials, and CRM data.
- The associate supports firm-wide strategic initiatives and internal presentations.
- 2-3 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, transaction advisory, or corporate finance (preference for M&A or leveraged finance).
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative, team‑focused mindset appropriate for an entrepreneurial, flat organization.
- High integrity, maturity, and sound judgment.
