We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Senior Coordinator of Finance to join the Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) Finance team. HSE includes the Charlotte Hornets, Greensboro Swarm, Spectrum Center Events and new business ventures. This role supports the Finance team in maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency and compliance with organizational policies.
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounts payable processes, handling vendor communications, processing payments and maintaining accurate financial records. To succeed you should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. You should be ethical, thorough and attentive with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Match invoices to POs, track AP aging, and ensure proper coding and approvals using BILL or similar systems.
- Process employee expense reimbursements and corporate card transactions through Concur (or equivalent).
- Prepare and execute payments (ACH and wire), ensuring compliance with company payment policies and financial controls.
- Reconcile vendor accounts, investigate and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies, and manage 1099 reporting.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for internal teams, external vendors and auditors; maintain supplier files and respond to inquiries.
- Perform monthly journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and assist with month-end close.
- Support ad hoc accounting needs related to sponsor ships, ticketing and other revenue streams.
- Complete administrative tasks and other duties assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the finance team.
To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field strongly preferred.
- 1‑3 years of professional experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all financial tasks.
- Ability to make sound, common‑sense decisions independently while maintaining accountability.
- Process driven person who is able to read procedures, understand the design of controls, and then put them into operation as they apply to different circumstances.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Great Plains, or similar).
- High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial data.
- Presents self in professional manner and has ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
- Willingness to work a variable schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, Hornets games and Spectrum events
