Financial Reporting Manager
A large, well-established organization in the financial services / insurance space is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join its centralized corporate accounting team in Charlotte, NC
. This is an individual contributor role responsible for owning key processes, complex reporting activities, and cross-functional finance initiatives.
This position supports enterprise accounting and reporting by partnering across multiple teams to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and appropriate accounting treatment for new and evolving transactions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, a sharp analytical mindset, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-entity environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and enhance recurring financial reporting work streams, ensuring timely, accurate delivery of quarterly and annual reporting requirements
Evaluate and support accounting treatment for new transactions and emerging accounting topics, including documenting conclusions and aligning with technical guidance
Partner closely with internal teams (accounting, finance, FP&A, tax, systems, and other SMEs) to ensure alignment on reporting implications and execution
Lead analysis of period results by identifying key drivers, investigating trends, and communicating business impacts clearly to stakeholders
Support corporate controllership priorities, including journal entry oversight, balance sheet reconciliation ownership, and close process support
Navigate consolidation-related activities in a multi-entity environment, including intercompany accounting considerations and settlement support
Provide audit and compliance support, including documentation, walkthroughs, and responding to inquiries from internal/external audit teams
Drive continuous improvement efforts across reporting processes, controls, documentation, and systems/tools
Act as a go-to resource on technical accounting/reporting topics, translating complexity into clear recommendations for business partners
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability; capable of managing multiple priorities under deadlines
Confident communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration skills
CPA (active or in progress)
Experience with People Soft, Oracle, Essbase, and/or close automation tools (ex: ARCs or similar)
Background in public accounting and/or industry experience within financial services/insurance
