A Charlotte-based service organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage and administer end-to-end payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while maintaining payroll systems and supporting employee inquiries.

• Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls accurately and on schedule
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related employee inquiries
• Execute off-cycle payrolls and generate payroll reports
• Calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, and garnishments
• Prepare and analyze labor, commission, and financial reports
• Reconcile payroll expenses,
  401(k) and Health Savings Accounts
• Maintain integrations between payroll and timekeeping systems
• Ensure payroll tax compliance, registrations, and SUI filings for new states
• Coordinate with external auditors and maintain internal payroll controls
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and operational efficiency
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Strong financial and analytical mindset
• Proven ability to calculate taxes, commissions, and garnishments
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
• Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills
• Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrates integrity and maintains high ethical standards

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• 4+ years of payroll experience
• In-depth knowledge of payroll tax laws and compliance
• Proficiency with payroll systems (Paylocity and Serveman preferred)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
