We’re seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team in Charlotte, NC, a role crucial to maintaining the financial health of our organization. As a Senior Staff Accountant at UU, you’ll be an integral part of our finance department, contributing to our continued success in powering the nation’s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and record journal entry transactions for various general ledger functions.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, including bank account reconciliations.
- Prepare, record, and distribute intercompany‑related expense allocation for various business units.
- Conduct month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including compilation of various internal and external financial reports and metrics.
- Apply accounting policies and procedures and ensure compliance as applicable.
- Prepare documents for audits and respond to associated requests.
- Work with the Accounting Manager to improve financial processes.
- Maintain legal documents for entities across the enterprise (Articles of Incorporation, LLC documents, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
- Maintain list of Officers and Directors, FEIN’s, Tax ’s, and physical addresses.
- Ensure enterprise tax compliance in every state of operation.
- Support Sales & Use Tax reporting and filing.
- Support periodic / annual tax filings prepared by external Tax firm.
- Support other tax / accounting projects as they arise.
- Respond to inquiries from management regarding financial data and reports.
- Foster a collaborative and results‑driven culture within the accounting department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Must be able to produce work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to operate independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience with financial software (e.g., SAGE).
- Construction experience preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, communicate effectively, and use fine motor skills for tasks involving a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee will also frequently stand, walk, and engage in activities that require reaching with their arms.
