Geographic Information Systems and Construction Administration. Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a motivated and driven Civil Project Engineer in Charlotte, NC. The position requires a strong understanding of civil site design and development with experience in water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure design. This position is responsible for permitting and performing design work and engineering calculations on civil site development projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required due to regular client interaction.

Permitting and design work on civil site development projects; perform engineering calculations; communicate with clients and project team; contribute to successful project delivery and adherence to schedule.

• Education: Bachelors or Masters in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain registration within 6 months of hire.
• Experience: 8+ years in Civil Engineering Design. Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills.
• Skills: Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience in planning, design, and permitting of civil site design, drainage improvement, and small transportation projects; ability to write technical specifications and bid documents; strong understanding of stormwater hydraulics and hydrology; ability to prepare grading and drainage plans and reports; ability to perform construction administration including site visits and coordination with the client and contractor;
  
  clear verbal and written communication; multi-tasking and time management; client service orientation; problem solving; and teamwork.
• Work schedule:
  
  Regular hours 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM Friday, with additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
