Role PurposeDevelops solutions to a wide range of technical problems. Guides successful completion of projects as required. Applies extensive expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with functional leads from Development, Product Engineering, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, and/or Sales to:
- Develop and execute the product line planning process, including identifying critical projects for the year.
- Resolve product issues related to performance (specs, attributes, services), quality, share growth, and customer needs (e.g., contract management), balancing Corning and customer priorities.
- Understand downstream market requirements and assess competitive threats and implications.
- Create and manage short- and long-term forecasts in coordination with Sales & Marketing and Supply Chain.
- Partner with Value Creation and Market Development to identify and create new products.
- Support product line strategy through all stages of innovation—from concept to commercialization and lifecycle management.
- Address new products or special requests by developing business cases, including P&L and balance sheet implications, to assess feasibility and pricing.
- Work with Manufacturing and Sales to identify opportunities for complexity reduction and cost savings at Corning plants and customer sites.
- Operate independently with minimal oversight from the Product Line Manager.
- May be designated to develop, communicate, and manage product strategies including roadmaps, pricing, forecasts, cost reductions, and operational requirements.
- Manage the product obsolescence process to maximize value through end-of-life.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of current customer requirements and future opportunities.
- Provide guidance and feedback on customer engagement approaches.
- Align processes and technologies to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor of Science (4‑year) degree or in business with an analytical background and strong potential for technical learning.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in product line management, marketing, manufacturing, or engineering in an engineering‑based and customer‑focused environment.
- Demonstrated track record of managing projects and leading multi‑functional teams.
- Work experience in a Commercial or Operations function.
- Proven track record in:
- Managing projects.
- Leading multi‑functional teams.
- Performing Product Line Specialist duties independently.
- Solving problems by consulting multiple experts or colleagues.
- Communicating complex business and technical issues effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- MBA or equivalent demonstrated experience (i.e., extensive experience in business) is a strong plus.
- Experience managing people.
- Work experience in Manufacturing, Development, and/or in a Strategy group.
- Financial analysis and accounting experience.
- Participation in, or leadership of, multicultural and/or multi‑geographic projects.

- US Salaried – The range for this position is $ – $ assuming full‑time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
- US Union Free Hourly – The range for this position is $ hourly rate – $ hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
