Our client is a leading semiconductor manufacturer, is seeking a Director of Maintenance and Engineering to lead plant reliability, equipment performance, and engineering support functions within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing and executing maintenance strategies, ensuring equipment uptime, and driving continuous improvement across critical manufacturing assets.
The Director will lead multidisciplinary teams across maintenance, facilities, and engineering, ensuring the plant operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with production targets. This position requires strong leadership, deep technical understanding of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and the ability to build scalable maintenance systems within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance Strategy & Reliability- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and manufacturing throughput
- Establish reliability programs focused on reducing downtime, improving MTBF, and optimizing maintenance costs
- Oversee maintenance planning, spare parts management, and asset lifecycle strategies across production equipment
- Lead plant engineering teams responsible for equipment performance, process support, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with manufacturing leadership to identify engineering solutions that improve yield, reliability, and production efficiency
- Support installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of new manufacturing equipment and technology
- Drive equipment performance improvements aligned with plant KPIs, including OEE, yield, and capacity utilization
- Ensure rapid troubleshooting and resolution of equipment failures impacting production
- Implement structured problem-solving and root cause analysis across technical teams
- Build, develop, and mentor high-performing teams across maintenance technicians, reliability engineers, and facilities engineers
- Establish clear performance expectations and leadership structure within technical teams
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee facility systems critical to semiconductor manufacturing, including cleanroom infrastructure, HVAC, utilities, and process support systems
- Support EHS initiatives and maintain compliance with industry standards and internal policies
- Partner with operations, quality, supply chain, and EHS teams to ensure seamless plant performance
- Work closely with capital projects teams during equipment upgrades, expansions, or new line installations
- Provide technical leadership during plant expansions or technology transitions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline)
- 10+ years of experience in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environments
- Proven leadership experience managing maintenance and engineering teams within high-volume production facilities
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and cleanroom operations
- Experience implementing reliability programs, predictive maintenance systems, and asset management strategies
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements in uptime, yield, and equipment performance
