SQA Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a technically proficient SQA Engineer to serve as the primary point of contact for lab validation and sustaining programs. The role focuses on ensuring disciplined test execution, traceability, and defect reporting across multiple programs. This position is based in Charlotte, NC, operating primarily on-site, with flexibility for hybrid work when lab activity permits.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Systems Engineering to develop test plans based on requirements and ensure traceability from requirements to test cases.
- Execute lab tests in person and serve as the controls validation point of contact.
- Run tests on prototypes and document pass/fail outcomes.
- Organize test records in alignment with test plans and maintain defect logs.
- Log defects with technical clarity and track their closure.
- Prepare and present 2–3 slide summaries of test results during department meetings.
- Build bench setups and simulators while supporting legacy platforms.
- Contribute to Python-based SQA automation development.
- Support new product development, sustaining engineering, and test/process automation improvements.
- Strong fundamentals in SQA, including test execution and documentation.
- Proficiency in equipment and controls validation.
- Basic engineering knowledge, such as heat exchangers and unit conversions.
- Capability to execute lab tests effectively.
- Experience in bench wiring and setup.
- Understanding of controls inputs and outputs.
- Python scripting and automation experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred background in Systems Engineering.
- Degree in Controls Engineering or Software Engineering preferred.
- Experience in the HVAC industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops and Jira is a plus.
- Experience in automation framework development.
- Background in HVAC, automotive, or industrial sectors is advantageous.
This role requires on-site presence at the factory in Charlotte, NC for an average of four days a week. Depending on lab activity, particularly when prototypes are involved, up to five days on-site may be required. The position offers a supportive environment conducive to developing an automation foundation, improving traceability discipline, and reducing lab rework cycles. Employees are entitled to two weeks of PTO and holidays, with potential for long-term employment conversion for the right candidate.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr
