Master’s Thesis / Internship Opportunity – Simulation and Testing of High-Power Planar Transformers for Solid‑State Transformers (SST)

We are looking for highly motivated Master’s students interested in pursuing a thesis or internship in the field of electromagnetics. The focus will be on the simulation, design, and testing of advanced high-power planar transformers dedicated to solid‑state transformer (SST) systems. This opportunity offers hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge technologies in power systems, allowing students to contribute to innovative projects and deepen their expertise in transformer design and evaluation.

• Supporting the simulation and design of high‑power planar transformers for solid‑state transformer applications
• Contribute to the modelling, analysis and evaluation of electromagnetic components using specialised software tools
• Assist in hardware testing and documentation of results for internal use or potential publication
• Collaborate with the team to refine designs and explore innovative technical solutions

• Enrolled on a Master's programme in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics or a related subject
• Background in electromagnetic theory and simulation tools (e.g. FEM software) and basic PCB design
• Proficient in using tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB/Simulink and ANSYS for modelling
• Interest in hardware prototyping and testing.
• Ability to document findings in reports and publish papers/patents.
• Excellent command of English
