This role focuses on telecommunications infrastructure, audio visual systems, and electronic security systems, coordinating closely with architects, owners, and internal engineering teams. Success requires strong standards knowledge, high‑quality Revit/AutoCAD production capability, and confidence in client and field coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce construction‑ready design deliverables including drawings, details, schedules, risers, design narratives, and technical specifications for low‑voltage systems.
  • Support the design of telecommunications and structured cabling systems including MDF/IDF layouts, backbone and horizontal cabling concepts, pathways and spaces, equipment rooms, racks and cabinets, labeling and testing requirements.
  • Support the design of electronic security systems including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, coordinating device placement and system intent with project stakeholders.
  • Support the design of audio visual systems including conferencing and presentation environments, coordinating requirements with owners, IT, and architectural teams.
  • Apply TIA standards and industry best practices to ensure designs are code‑aligned, buildable, and consistent with client requirements.
  • Perform project‑related analysis and calculations as needed to support design decisions, system sizing/selection, and documentation quality.
  • Participate in project coordination with architects, owners, engineers, contractors, and vendors to resolve design conflicts and maintain schedule.
  • Provide construction phase support including shop drawing and submittal reviews, RFI responses, site visits, punch observations, and documentation updates.
  • Prepare meeting minutes, technical reports, and research summaries to support project execution and client communication.
  • Manage personal workload across multiple active projects with guidance from a department manager, meeting quality and schedule expectations.
  • Travel as required for project meetings and site visits, including occasional international travel.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in telecommunications and special systems design within buildings, including structured cabling, electronic security, and A/V.
  • Production‑level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for construction documentation.
  • Working proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of TIA standards and the ability to translate standards into buildable designs and clear specifications.
  • Demonstrated construction administration support experience (submittals, RFIs, site walks).
  • Ability to communicate confidently with owners and architects regarding technology and special systems design intent.
  • Self‑directed work style with the ability to balance multiple deadlines and coordinate effectively within a project team.
  • US Citizen, valid driver's license, and ability to travel for project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • RCDD certification, or a clear plan and willingness to achieve RCDD within an agreed timeframe.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Project experience in one or more of the following sectors: federal/municipal, healthcare, aviation, mission critical/data centers.
