Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong powder‑processing and filling‑system experience. This role focuses on improving powder manufacturing processes and designing/rebuilding custom filling systems for pressurized cylinders.

This company manufactures its own dry chemical agents, which requires highly specialized equipment. They are seeking someone who can take ownership of these systems end‑to‑end.

Responsibilities
  • Reports to:

    COO
Powder Manufacturing & Process Engineering
  • Oversee the production of dry chemical powders including formulation handling, blending, and powder flow behavior
  • Resolve challenges related to transferring powders from mixers/blenders into filling lines (current systems are aging and require modernization)
  • Improve powder flow, dust control, material transfer efficiency, and overall system reliability
Filling System Design & Optimization
  • Design, upgrade, and maintain custom powder filling systems for pressurized cylinders
  • Develop and refine piping, valves, and other mechanical assemblies
  • Engineer solutions to improve powder movement, accuracy, and flow across the entire filling process
Plant Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the primary technical expert for all powder-related mechanical systems
  • Work closely with the COO on special projects and long term engineering strategy
  • Collaborate with a small engineering team (2 Mechanical Engineers & 1 Electrical Engineer)
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues related to powder handling and pressurized filling equipment
  • Apply LEAN, Kaizen, and other process‑efficiency methodologies to drive operational improvement
  • Increase uptime, enhance safety, improve material flow, and optimize system performance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5-10+ years of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering experience
  • Strong background in powder manufacturing, powder flow, or blending systems
  • Direct experience designing, modifying, and maintaining powder filling equipment
  • Hands‑on mechanical engineering expertise, including piping, valves, conveyors, and related systems
