What You Will DoAs an entry‑level Geotechnical Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in subsurface exploration and drilling operations, contributing to exciting projects. Under the mentorship of Licensed Engineers, you'll gain valuable hands‑on experience in the field, conduct technical analyses, and develop your report‑writing skills.
- Field Operations Coordination:
Coordinate and manage field exploration and drilling activities. - Soil and Rock Sample Collection:
Gather, describe, and document soil and rock samples from various sites across the Carolinas. - Design Analysis:
Analyze subsurface conditions, manage soil and rock laboratory testing, and support engineering and geological assessments/calculations. - Report Preparation:
Create detailed reports with findings, insights, and recommendations for project development. - Geological Assessments:
Provide geological expertise to support geotechnical designs, including site characterizations and risk assessments.
We're seeking a curious, motivated early‑career engineer who enjoys hands‑on problem solving and learning in dynamic outdoor and office environments. Someone with strong communication skills, adaptability, and a willingness to travel to project sites across the Carolinas is essential for success in this role.
Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining, or a related field - Experience:
0-2 years of experience in geotechnical or geological projects - Certifications/Professional Licensure:
Engineer in Training (EIT) with the desire to pursue PE licensure in the future - Key
Competencies:- A passion for Geology and Geotechnical solutions, with a strong interest in field and analytical work
- Basic technical writing skills at the college level
This role involves hands‑on work in outdoor environments, and with Company‑provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out‑of‑town and/or overnight) as project needs arise
