The candidate will work in a convergent team environment with data scientists and engineers to integrate machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence methods for applications in advanced manufacturing, thermal management, and energy security. The candidate will also lead projects and supervise graduate students. Prior experience in scientific machine learning is highly desired.

Postdoctoral Fellow appointments are characterized by the following conditions:

• the appointee was recently (within the last eight years) awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)
• the appointment is temporary
• the appointment involves substantially full‑time research or scholarship
• the appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full‑time academic and/or research career
• the appointee works under the supervision of a faculty member
• the appointee has the freedom and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of appointment

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering and possess excellent communication skills. Prior experience in the following areas is expected:

• Multiphase flow and heat/mass transfer
• Mathematical and statistical machine learning
• Data‑centric machine learning algorithms, e.g., generative and large language models
• Scientific data organization, management and retrieval
