Overview

A leading energy and utility organization is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a long-term nuclear fuel cycle extension and plant sustainability program. This initiative focuses on extending reactor operating cycles through detailed engineering analysis, regulatory licensing support, equipment upgrades, and outage-related project execution.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring continued safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations by coordinating engineering, construction, and regulatory activities that support fuel cycle extensions and long-term asset life. The Project Manager will lead complex, highly regulated projects involving outage planning, system modifications, vendor coordination, and regulatory documentation, while working closely with site leadership, engineering teams, and external partners.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience managing technically complex projects in regulated environments, understands how to balance safety, schedule, and cost in high-stakes operations, and is comfortable working between the field, engineering, and executive levels to drive successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage assigned capital and infrastructure projects from planning through closeout
  • Develop, maintain, and control project scope, schedules, and budgets in alignment with corporate policies
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, operations, and external contractors
  • Serve as primary point of contact for stakeholders, vendors, and internal leadership
  • Oversee project controls, reporting, forecasting, and change management processes
  • Track project risks, milestones, and performance metrics; lead readiness and review meetings
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and security requirements
  • Represent projects in outage, planning, and executive-level review meetings
  • Approve contractor invoices, timesheets, and manage contract performance
  • Sponsor badges and job activities for technical and contract personnel
  • Lead post-project reviews and document lessons learned for continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 9+ years of project management experience, or 5+ years with an Engineering degree
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution (Engineering preferred)
  • Proven experience managing complex projects in regulated or utility environments
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, quality, and risk
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to enforce safety, environmental, and compliance standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or related field
  • PMP, CAPM, or equivalent project management certification
  • Utility technical certifications or construction management credentials
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with project scheduling and cost control systems
  • Background in construction management, transmission/distribution, or capital programs
  • Experience supporting outage planning and execution
  • Hybrid role with regular field and site presence
  • Works closely with engineering, operations, contractors, and executive stakeholders
  • Supports long-term capital and resiliency programs with high visibility and regulatory oversight
Why This Role
  • Opportunity to manage large-scale, multi-year utility infrastructure programs
  • High-impact role supporting system reliability, safety, and modernization
  • Strong exposure to executive leadership and strategic initiatives
  • Stable, long-term project pipeline within a regulated utility environment
