American Engineering is adding May 2026 civil engineering graduates with a strong interest in Transportation / Roadway design to our team who are eager to be part of a growing engineering firm which works on interesting and challenging projects.
Not sure exactly what type of civil engineering you want to do? We might be a fit for you. We don't pigeon-hole our staff, especially our new grads. You may get a chance to work on a variety of project types.
We have reasonable expectations of our new grads. We stress collaboration and sharing of teammates between our departments.
About the RoleNew staff will be part of engineering design teams in Transportation or Municipal/Infrastructure Departments.
Responsibilities- Embrace the hands‑on American Academy training program
- Have an intellectual curiosity
- Ask a lot of questions of the numerous PEs on the team
- Work on a variety of project types
- Collaborate and share with teammates between departments
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minor or Interest in transportation
- Graduating May 2026
- No experience necessary but relevant internship experience highly encouraged.
- Must be willing to commute or relocate to the Charlotte, NC region. This role is on‑site.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Introduced to software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Micro Station, or Open Roads Designer
