Overview
This position offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in Structural Engineering to design, analysis, and specification of nuclear facilities. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams for nuclear plant upgrades and new-build projects.
Responsibilities- Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel, and concrete design to prepare design calculations and specifications.
- Develop detailed designs for steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment supports, and foundations using advanced computer tools.
- Conduct structural analyses for loading conditions such as wind and seismic, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare drawing development and support field verification during construction coordination.
- Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers on meaningful project assignments.
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site visits for construction coordination and field verification.
Hybrid work schedule requiring in‑office work 3 days per week.
Qualifications- BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- 1+ year of applicable experience, or MSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission‑approved program with strong academic background and interest in behavioral analysis.
- Knowledge of practical application of structural engineering and design techniques, tools, and principles.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
- MSCE degree.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP
2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS. - Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
