Job Summary
Position located at Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Facilities Management, Operations Branch & Water Plant. MWEOC is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have experience with water and wastewater treatment and possess a Virginia Class III Water Treatment License or Virginia Class IV Wastewater Treatment License.
Responsibilities- Serve as a Utility Systems Operator responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining site water and wastewater systems.
- Operate plant systems for efficient and continuous operation of all utility systems.
- Determine maintenance problems and initiate immediate corrective action.
- Maintain accurate records of all phases of plant operations (water treatment, wastewater treatment).
- Operate water treatment and sewage treatment facilities & perform water treatment tests and measurements requiring knowledge of various microbiological organisms.
- Recognize the cause of faulty equipment and make repairs on large systems that provide for a variety of air conditioning.
- Must possess a Virginia Class III Water Treatment License or a Virginia Class IV Wastewater Treatment License. If licensed in another state, must obtain a Virginia license within one year of appointment.
- Top Secret clearance required; successful background investigation required.
U.S. citizen; selective service registration required. Current federal employees must meet time‑in‑grade requirements. Must obtain and maintain a government credit card. Must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time.
