The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for leading end to end finished goods packaging development primarily for Human Expression category, in developing primary and secondary packaging. The Packaging Engineer will support Blade Excellence and Flame for Life from time to time as local on-site packaging engineering work is necessary. Leading the finished goods packaging development and optimization processes, including spec development, BOM creation, partnering with suppliers and structural and material design.
Collaborates with the team, as well as internal customers, to meet the goals of the business with solutions that work for all stakeholders.
- Executing the Sustainable Development packaging strategy and contributes with the development of packaging at best cost, quality and time-to-market, considering the need for innovation, differentiation and standardization.
- Onsite Packaging Engineering support, partnering with local operational team, production floor operators to help troubleshoot issues and identify improvements areas.
- Collaborates with Charlotte operations as well as Commercial team partners to ideate and deliver D4G savings
- Support the packaging development team in different activities. Collaborate with PE team members in NAM and Saltillo to optimize/ standardize processes for Packaging Development.
- Supports Packaging Procurement initiatives to optimize packaging material costs.

- Support artwork development through creation and upload of structural packaging specification
- Main
goal is to develop their knowledge and skills to be responsible for the following Stationery custom primary packaging and displays such as trapped blisters, clamshells, mock clams, shrink wraps, face seal blisters, pouches - Reporting to the Manager of Packaging Engineering, is responsible for providing packaging options that meet the requirements of our customers.
Among the more
specific aspects of the position are the following:
- Manage multiple packaging projects, package development, value analysis, and cost savings initiatives.
- Packaging specification development for all channels.
- Develop and implement packaging concepts by interfacing with Marketing, Sales, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations and suppliers.
- Manage all aspects of third party-supplier relationships including assigning bills of material and reducing packaging costs. Develop strong relationships and communicate effectively to manage projects with Brand Managers, Product Development, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and global counterparts.
- Hold discussions during product team meetings; communicate technical issues and details to the project team and management.
- Must be able to work across the full management environment including working with BIC senior management
- Bachelor’s Degree:
Preferably in Packaging Engineering/Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Industrial Design, or related technical discipline - 2+ years of packaging development and commercialization experienc e in CPG/ FMCG environment
- Knowledge of Sustainable Development trends
- Demonstrated ability to direct suppliers through design, development and improvement projects
